Calendar Jun 18, 2024 at 5:30 pm, runs for 16 weeks

This is an all-inclusive 16-week program that includes in-person skills labs and live via Zoom class meetings that prepare you to pass the National Certification.

Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant) national certification exam through NHA. The fee for the class includes national certification, 6 practice exams, online study guide materials, books, resume assistance, and all other associated fees.  Externships may be available in your area.  Payment plans are available. The classroom hours are live online.  Additional clinical hours are in-person as locally as feasible. Certification tests are offered locally.

AMP Phlebotomy (Jun)

Become Nationally Certified in 10 weeks as a Phlebotomy Technician. Our course is all-inclusive and prepares you for national certification with live classes via ZOOM and in-person skills labs.  You will be able to perform basic phlebotomy procedures, evaluate patients for their ability to withstand venipuncture, explain the procedure and answer the patient questions, perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels on patients, prepare blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens for testing according to established standards. 

The fee includes Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) national certification through NHA, books, resume and job assistance.  Payment plans available.   The classroom hours are live online.  Additional clinical hours are in-person as locally as feasible. Certification tests are offered locally.

AMP Medical Transcription (Online)

Medical Transcription is a desired field for many people trying to work at home.  Strong typing, computer, and English grammar skills are essential.  Medical terminology, formats, rules and regulations, jobs, calculation of pay, confidentiality, and tricks of the trade, all equipment, reference books, and course books are provided with the course fee.  Classes are online for 16 weeks, with a completion of 16 weeks to 6 months options. 

This is a State Certified program, and you will receive a Certificate of Completion and Letter of Recommendation upon graduation, and help with resumes and how to obtain a job are covered in this program.  Program includes Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and transcription.  The fee includes everything for the course and the field.  Required: typing skills above 60 WPM, Microsoft Word proficient. Payment plans are available.  Online anytime, self-paced.

Behavioral Health Professional Certification Training (Winter/Spring 2024)

Looking for meaningful work?  Our community needs individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life. Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Disorders, and their families, and the need Downeast is great!

A Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.  In just 40 hours, Woodfords' remote training program can get you certified and on your way to a life-changing profession. 

You must be a Maine resident and at least 18 years old, with a high school diploma (or equivalent) to become certified.  We are excited to connect the Ellsworth area with this wonderful ONLINE training and certificate program.  This is a hybrid course (a combination of online and in-person) with ongoing enrollment.

If you are ready to make a change in your life by finding the right job or career for you, this offering will provide you with the resources, skills, knowledge and support to seek your fortune! 

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • take career assessments;
  • explore job opportunities;
  • identify the training or education required (and apply for those programs);
  • prepare for jobs by writing resumes and participating in informational and mock interviews, and completing paper and online job applications; and
  • strengthen communication and other foundation skills you need to reach your goals. 

You will work with a veteran instructor to design your own individualized program.  This is an in-person class.

Vanessa loves working with adult learners. She is really easy to be around and makes people extremely comfortable; she even makes learning math and computers fun! She is committed to helping adults discover their strengths, build their confidence, and realize they can accomplish their goals. In her free time, she loves to travel and explore the outdoors. Vanessa teaches math, science, technology, and provides college and career advising.
