Overall health and independence are important for everyone of all ages.  In this class, we focus on three main components: 

  1. Increasing your MOBILITY;
  2. Improving your STABILITY; and
  3. Gaining STRENGTH, 

all while learning functional movements that enrich everyday life.  Be challenged and have fun in a peer supported environment with an excellent, seasoned coaching staff.  Everything you need to know for each class is taught, discussed and practiced with the watchful eye of your coaches.  Join your peers at CrossFit Breakwater!  This is an in person class.

Amy Dalrymple Boles has over 8 years of CrossFit experience, and has worked with all ages ranging from 5-92.  She has her CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2 certifications, along with many specialty certifications.  Her keen eye for movement alignment and adapting workouts to your needs ensure a supportive environment every step of your journey.

Missy Gaston Missy is a retired teacher and now CrossFit coach with her CrossFit Level 1 certification.  She has been participating in CrossFit for over 8 years and encourages everyone to attain a broader scope of functional movement.

Calendar Jun 15, 2021 at 5 pm, runs for 10 weeks

This course provides students with an introduction to the major theories and concepts in chemistry.  This science will be explored through lectures, lab activities, projects and research.  Math skills needed to perform necessary calculations will also be reviewed.  By the end of this course, students will have gained a true understanding of the composition of matter, how matter is categorized, how matter interacts, the Atomic Theory throughout history, the signs and causes of chemical reactions, and the properties and structure of matter. 

Furthermore, this course will allow students to improve upon their problem-solving skills and gain a true and deeper understanding of why they are seeing what they are seeing and just how much chemistry is used in everyday life.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will earn one high school diploma credit (a prerequisite for acceptance to several local college programs).  This is a live online course.

While Ellsworth Adult Education is unable to offer in person First Aid & CPR courses during the pandemic, we are committed to sharing courses offered by our partners and other organizations.   If you need any help connecting or preparing for this workshop, we are happy to support you!

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of emergencies.  If you're taking this course to meet OSHA requirements, please check with your workplace to determine if this online-only course is acceptable.  The course features award-winning simulation learning, an interactive experience where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting to help prepare you to recognize and respond to first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults.

This course requires a PC or tablet with a high speed internet connection, does not work with Internet Explorer, and is not supported on smartphones.  Allow approximately 2 hours 10 minutes to complete the course.

Certification: Red Cross courses offer Digital Certification - an online version of a Red Cross certificate, which provides anytime, anywhere access to student training history and course certificates. Digital certificates can be viewed, printed or shared online and can be accessed anytime through your Red Cross Account.  Each certificate includes a unique ID and a QR code which meets employment requirements and allows employers to easily confirm your certificate is valid.  There is no need to carry your printed certificate around anymore!

Continuing Education: Nurses, social workers, teachers and daycare providers and other professionals who need continuing education units to maintain licensure or certification can obtain CEUs through American Red Cross Training Services.

Medical transcription is a desired field for most people trying to work at home. Strong typing, computer, and English grammar skills are essential. Medical terminology, formats, rules and regulations, jobs, calculation of pay, confidentiality, FTP, and tricks of the trade, all equipment, reference books, and course books are provided with the course fee. Classes are once a week for 16-weeks with a completion of 16 weeks to 6 month options. This is a State Certified Program and you will receive a Certificate of Completion and Letter of Recommendation upon graduation, resumes and how to obtain a job are also covered in this program. This is an all inclusive 14 week program. Work one-on-one with a Pharmacy Technician Trainer and entirely online with support from a Pharmacy Technician and Trainer.  Pharmacy Technician is one of the fastest growing jobs in health care today. In this course, you will learn everything from the role of the technician in the pharmacy setting, to the basic sciences at the core of pharmacy practice, to preparing for the PTCB exam. You will learn complete drug information that includes proper name, spelling and pronunciation, drug class, generic and trade name, route of administration, dosage and more of hundreds of drugs. Healthy Acadia is offering a livestream Recovery Coaching Basics Online training the first Wednesday of every month from January to June 2021.  The eight hour training consists of pre-work/post work (2-3 hours) and one five-hour livestream session. 

This training is based on CCAR's flagship training, the Recovery Coach Academy (RCA). This curriculum provides a basic, introductory version of Recovery Coaching in order to meet the needs of those who want a general understanding of the recovery process to better understand and support the recovery of their loved ones, friends, colleagues or recovery coaches within their organizations. This workshop is available to Maine residents.  Participants in this workshop will:

  • understand the roles of a recovery coach in supporting recovery;
  • understand the roles of a system/site in supporting recovery coaching;
  • define and increase fluency in the language of recovery;
  • build capacity to understand, support and advocate for recovery; and
  • create a learning community to advance the recognition, acceptance and support of recovery.
