AMP Dental Assisting (Sep)

Calendar Sep 16, 2024 at 6 pm, runs for 12 weeks

This is a 12-week Certificate program in Dental Assisting, one of the most high-demand careers.  The program is designed to teach all aspects of dental assisting and provide you with the skills you need to work in this field and pass a national certificate exam.  This program is taught by a dentist and includes Dental Assisting Certification, and includes an opportunity for internships.  We now offer an option for lab days, please ask for more details! 

The price of the course includes all books, exam preparation materials and fees for the DANB RHS® certificate program. Upon passing the DANB RHS®, you will receive a certificate of knowledge based on competency for that component from DANB. Payment plans are available. The classroom hours are live online with options for lab days in a dental office based on student's location and availability. This course is also available asynchronosly online and you can start anytime.

There is more to being successful in college than signing up for classes and going to class. This workshop will cover identifying your life and career goals, selecting the right college for you, completing college and financial aid applications, scholarships, study skills, time management, and more. 

This workshop will be facilitated by an experienced college advisor and will include speakers from programs that offer support to ensure success in college. This workshop will be most successful if you are proactive in completing assignments between sessions.  This is an in-person class.

Vanessa loves working with adult learners. She is really easy to be around and makes people extremely comfortable; she even makes learning math and computers fun! She is committed to helping adults discover their strengths, build their confidence, and realize they can accomplish their goals. In her free time, she loves to travel and explore the outdoors. Vanessa teaches math, science, technology, and provides college and career advising.

Are you interested in feeling more confident in communicating with others and on a team?  Teamwork and communication in the 21st century are skills that direct service employers want their employees to have. 

This 8-week, in-person course is designed to introduce the components of the skills of listening actively, strengthening relationships and focusing on solutions through communication, and to provide an opportunity to practice and demonstrate these skills.  There will be lots of listening, responding, teamwork, and talking about problems and solutions.  This course is a component of the Early Childhood Education Micro-credential, but anyone can benefit!  This is an in-person class; makeup class, if needed 12/04/24.

Emily Nash brings many years of experience teaching adult education and has strong skills in designing curriculum to meet the real needs of students. She’s respectful and sensitive to the needs of adult learners and is always a good listening ear. She loves to read, and between stints as an adult education teacher, she is a seasonal professional landscaper. Emily is a student advisor, and teaches English, HiSET prep and Multilingual Learners.

WorkReadyTM Credential is a workforce training program designed to prepare participants for the attitudinal and disciplinary rigors of employment and to provide a highly structured simulated work environment that encourages the behavior required for workplace success. 

Business Training-Designed for Your Employees We will design  a training to meet the unique needs of your business. We have experience with task analysis of specific jobs to design and deliver relevant training.  Examples have included training people to write effective notes in healthcare charts, reading instructions and writing notes in a variety of local settings as well as technology training (i.e., Excel and Google Suites for businesses and nonprofits).  These trainings are cost effective and responsive to the business needs.

Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce offering funding for pre-hire training, incumbent worker training, and scholarships. We can assist businesses in accessing this incredible resource for accessing training!

This is an all-inclusive 16-week program that includes in-person skills labs and live via Zoom class meetings that prepare you to pass the National Certification.

The fee for the class includes national certification, 6 practice exams, online study guide materials, books, resume assistance, and all other associated fees.  Externships may be available in your area.  Payment plans are available. The classroom hours are live online.  Additional clinical hours are in-person as locally as feasible. Become Nationally Certified in 10 weeks as a Phlebotomy Technician. Our course is all-inclusive and prepares you for national certification with live classes via ZOOM and in-person skills labs.  You will be able to perform basic phlebotomy procedures, evaluate patients for their ability to withstand venipuncture, explain the procedure and answer the patient questions, perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels on patients, prepare blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens for testing according to established standards. 

The fee includes Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) national certification through NHA, books, resume and job assistance.  Payment plans available.   The classroom hours are live online.  Additional clinical hours are in-person as locally as feasible. Certification tests are offered locally.
