iPhone & iPad for the Novice

Did you just buy an iPhone or iPad, or receive one as a gift? Come and learn the basics on how to send/receive iMessages and email, set up your phone contact list, get voicemail, download apps, take a picture, search the internet, and more.
Bring your fully-charged device and have your Apple ID and password available. If you have not used your device at all, it can be set up at the first meeting. This is an in-person class on a space available basis.

Communication for the Early Childhood Professional

Are you interested in feeling more confident in communicating with others and on a team? Teamwork and communication in the 21st century are skills that direct service employers want their employees to have.
This 8-week, in-person course is designed to introduce the components of the skills of listening actively, strengthening relationships and focusing on solutions through communication, and to provide an opportunity to practice and demonstrate these skills. There will be lots of listening, responding, teamwork, and talking about problems and solutions. This course is a component of the Early Childhood Education Micro-credential, but anyone can benefit! This is an in-person class. No class 11/22/23; makeup class, if needed, 12/06/23.
Emily Nash brings many years of experience teaching adult education and has strong skills in designing curriculum to meet the real needs of students. She’s respectful and sensitive to the needs of adult learners and is always a good listening ear. She loves to read, and between stints as an adult education teacher, she is a seasonal professional landscaper. Emily is a student advisor, and teaches English, HiSET prep and Multilingual Learners.

Ellsworth School Department Substitute Workshop (Mar)

The Ellsworth School Department is looking for substitutes in all departments - teachers, ed techs, secretaries, bus drivers, and custodians. Effective substitutes need to know how to access policies and procedures, as well as the facilities. This workshop addresses these topics, as well as the application process, tools and tips for classroom management and instructional practices for substitute teachers. It will be followed up by a meeting with school administrators at relevant schools. This is an in-person workshop.
Google Forms: Gather Information

Forms is the Google Suite App that allows you to create surveys, proposals and so much more. The surveys are easy to create and can automatically be formatted to download to a google sheet which makes reviewing the results quick and easy. This is an in-peson class. Google Sheets are spreadsheet files. Spreadsheets were traditionally ledgers for financial recordkeeping, but now are used for organizing, tracking and retrieving all kinds of information. Google Sheets is a user friendly, online tool similar to Microsoft Excel. It’s free, accessible from all devices and is easy to share.
