The Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA) training is designed for unlicensed workers. Successful completion of this course satisfies Departmental training requirements for workers who wish to pass medications in certain assisted housing programs.

This course teaches you how to give medications safely for assisted living and group homes.  It is a curriculum standardized by the state. You will learn how to give medications safely, medication side effects, how medications impact the body, and the scope of the CRMA certification. 

There are two parts to this course:  40-hours of classroom, and individualized sessions where you demonstrate your ability to pass (give) medications to individuals.

This is a 12-week Certificate program in Dental Assisting, one of the most high-demand careers.  The program is designed to teach all aspects of dental assisting and provide you with the skills you need to work in this field and pass a national certificate exam.  This program is taught by a dentist and includes Dental Assisting Certification, and includes an opportunity for internships.  We now offer an option for lab days, please ask for more details! 

The price of the course includes all books, exam preparation materials and fees for the DANB RHS® certificate program. Upon passing the DANB RHS®, you will receive a certificate of knowledge based on competency for that component from DANB. Payment plans are available. The classroom hours are live online with options for lab days in a dental office based on student's location and availability. This course is also available asynchronosly online and you can start anytime.

Chemistry with Lab

This course provides students with an introduction to the major theories and concepts in chemistry.  This science will be explored through lectures, lab activities, projects and research.  Math skills needed to perform necessary calculations will also be reviewed.  By the end of this course, students will have gained a true understanding of the composition of matter, how matter is categorized, how matter interacts, the Atomic Theory throughout history, the signs and causes of chemical reactions, and the properties and structure of matter. 

Furthermore, this course will allow students to improve upon their problem-solving skills and gain a deeper understanding of why they are seeing what they are seeing and just how much chemistry is used in everyday life.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will earn one high school diploma credit (a prerequisite for acceptance to several local college programs).  This is a live online course.  No class 02/22/24 or 04/18/24.  Makeup class, if needed, 06/06/24.

Ellsworth Adult & Community Education is a new partner of the NDEC. Classes are available this semester at the  adult education center in Ellsworth.  There is a volunteer that supports adult learners in the classroom and the instructor zooms into the classroom.  

Telehealth-Connecting with Your Healthcare Provider from Home  In this class we will look at how you can connect with your healthcare provider from the comfort of your own home. Telehealth is the new Home Visit, allowing healthcare providers to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients, whether it’s for check ups, consultations, or a follow-up appointment. We will discuss the process;  from setting up your initial appointment, what to expect, insurance and patient portals to community resources. No devices are required; just bring yourself.

 

 

Human Biology with Lab (Online)

This online course presents the major human biological principles including biochemistry, cell biology, DNA and genetics, human anatomy and physiology, including directional terms and orientation, and more.  Students will experience the process of science through the conduction of virtual dissections, microscopy and other laboratory experiments and research.  Whenever possible, equipment and supplies will be available for loan for lab sessions. Upon successful completion, students will earn one high school diploma credit. This is an independent study course.  

You will be using an interactive and engaging online Human Biology course with the ongoing support from the instructor during office hours scheduled Mondays 5pm-6pm.  Instructor will guide you through the labs.

Vanessa loves working with adult learners. She is really easy to be around and makes people extremely comfortable; she even makes learning math and computers fun! She is committed to helping adults discover their strengths, build their confidence, and realize they can accomplish their goals. In her free time, she loves to travel and explore the outdoors. Heartsaver Basic First Aid & CPR Adult/Child/Infant Bundle (Mar)

This is a bundled course with Basic First Aid in the morning and Heartsaver CPR Adult/Child/Infant in the afternoon. 

Basic First Aid certifies the student in several critical topics/skills needed to provide immediate lifesaving care for individuals who are dealing with a medical or injury emergency. It also covers environmental emergencies for the lay rescuer. 

The CPR course certifies the student in cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills for adults, infants, and children, as well as choking protocols. It also teaches competency in both Automated External Defibrillator use and Narcan. 

When you bundle a Basic First Aid course with Heartsaver CPR (scheduled on the same day for your convenience) you pay a total of $85 with a savings of $35. You also have the option to register for just Basic First Aid or just Heartsaver CPR Adult/Child/Infant elsewhere in this catalog.  This is an in-person class.
