Google: Gmail 101

This workshop is for someone who already has a Gmail account, but may not know how to access it on the website so other Google suites can be used. This workshop will introduce you to composing and replying to emails, adding and downloading attachments, inserting links, using labels to organize emails, managing settings, saving contacts, and more as time permits. This is an in-person class.
You’ll need a Gmail account for this workshop, and will need to know your account username and password. It’s ideal if you access your Gmail on the web vs. a computer-based program. If you’re not sure what this means, please contact us and we’ll be glad to assist you! Google applications are free and are a practical way to learn programs without investing in software.
Vanessa loves working with adult learners. She is really easy to be around and makes people extremely comfortable; she even makes learning math and computers fun! She is committed to helping adults discover their strengths, build their confidence, and realize they can accomplish their goals. In her free time, she loves to travel and explore the outdoors. Certified Nursing Assistant PLUS

Ellsworth Adult & Community Education is working with MDI Hospital and Birch Bay Village to offer a Certified Nursing Assistant course.
This is an in-person program with 70 hours of classes scheduled Monday and Tuesday evenings 20 hours of labs and Wednesday evenings. These sessions will be held at Hancock County Technical Center in Ellsworth. After the labs are complete 40 hours of clinical will follow on Wednesdays during the daytime hours.
CNA Plus also offers BLS, CPR & First Aid, Digital Literacy Certification and a WorkReady credential.
Interested students can begin on the Northstar Digital Literacy anytime, which is recommended. Here's a link to our CNA Information Session Material

This course is free for Maine residents who plan to work at a facility in Hancock County. It is funded by a Strengthen Maine's Workforce Grant offered by the State of Maine.
Understanding the Internet

The internet has become such a large part of our daily lives that having a basic understanding of its origins is essential. This course introduces the origins of the internet, how it works and what you can do on the internet. No devices are required for this class. Just bring yourself!
Early Childhood Education Micro-Credential Spring 2025

The Early Childhood Education Micro-Credential is a package of courses and certificates designed to prepare you for an entry level position in a childcare setting. This credential will allow you to apply for a job with confidence by gaining the knowledge and skills to work with children as well as the employability and digital skills required for success on the job.
The components of the program include:
- Northstar Digital Literacy Certification
- WorkReadyTM Credential
- Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid & CPR Certification
- Communication for the Early Childhood Professional
- A menu of self-paced online courses covering early childhood development, communicating with families, the importance of play, curriculum
- an in-person internship at a local childcare center.
These courses are being offering on Wednesdays from February through June.

Google Tasks: Get it Done!

Google Tasks is a little known feature of Google Suites. The tasks can be linked with calendar events, emails and other Google features that really assist with efficiently working through your to-do list, without losing track of what you need to get done. This is an in-peson class.

Algebra

Learn algebra in a fun and relaxed atmosphere including direct instruction, hands-on activities and online learning. To be successful in algebra, you should be somewhat confident in operations with arithmetic. If you need to brush-up on the basics, we have courses to get you ready for this college prerequisite, high school diploma-level course. This college pre-requisite course is offered for high school diploma credit.

AMP Dental Assisting (Feb)
with Academy of Medical Professions
This is a 12-week Certificate program in Dental Assisting, one of the most high-demand careers. The program is designed to teach all aspects of dental assisting and provide you with the skills you need to work in this field and pass a national certificate exam. This program is taught by a dentist and includes Dental Assisting Certification, and includes an opportunity for internships. We now offer an option for lab days, please ask for more details!
The price of the course includes all books, exam preparation materials and fees for the DANB RHS® certificate program. Upon passing the DANB RHS®, you will receive a certificate of knowledge based on competency for that component from DANB. Payment plans are available. The classroom hours are live online with options for lab days in a dental office based on student's location and availability. This course is also available asynchronosly online and you can start anytime.

Quickbooks: Basic Accounting Principles & Quickbooks Online (Feb)

During these three sessions, you will learn basic accounting principles and how to apply them to setting up QuickBooks Online for a small business or organization. This is a live, online class using ZOOM.
The design of the course is that you'll attend the class and also do 2-3 hours of work with the software between sessions which greatly enhances your learning.
You will receive a link to a brief pre-assessment with your email receipt. This will assist the instructor in meeting your goals for the class.
Val is a lifelong business educator and academic advisor focused on helping enrich and enhance students' educational and life purposes. He is experienced in college management and as an adult educator having taught at Mid-State College and Kennebec Valley Community College. His teaching experience covers over 45 years in the areas of computer applications, accounting, and Quickbooks training workshops.
