If you, or someone you know, want to practice strategies for reading and writing in a safe, friendly environment, this is the course for you. 

Reading and writing are complex.  The teacher will share the skills necessary to understand what you read, and to build your vocabulary and your confidence with writing.  Using articles, books, vocabulary exercises and online computer applications, increase your ability to read, write, remember, and feel confident in the world.   

This is an in-person class with ongoing enrollment September through May.

This course is designed to help adults improve their reading, writing, proofreading, editing, and revising to prepare for standardized exams.  We cover the basics of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph development, and will eventually write effective essays with clear ideas, smooth transitions, and logical support.  We will practice planning, research, prewriting, and organizing our writing.  Learning to proofread for punctuation, usage, content, and support will be emphasized.  This is an in-person class with ongoing enrollment September through May.

IC3 (Internet Core Competency Certification) Digital Literacy Certification is a global benchmark for basic computer literacy, including operating systems, hardware, software, and networks. The IC3 certifications tests concepts and skills that apply to almost any school or career pathway.  This course prepares you for the IC3 Certification exam using LearnKey curriculum and the support of a veteran adult education instructor.  The class will be designed based on student needs.

You can use technology and other learning resources to practice the skills you learn directly from your teacher and other learning resources.  You will learn how to study on your own and start habits to make you confident and successful in math and other subjects.  Learn free online tools and how to apply math in real life situations.  Vanessa Richards has 20 years of experience teaching all levels of math, and has been dubbed the “Math Therapist.”
