iPhone & iPad for the Novice

Did you just buy an iPhone or iPad, or receive one as a gift? Come and learn the basics on how to send/receive iMessages and email, set up your phone contact list, get voicemail, download apps, take a picture, search the internet, and more.
Bring your fully-charged device and have your Apple ID and password available. If you have not used your device at all, it can be set up at the first meeting. This is an in-person class on a space available basis.

Quickbooks: Desktop Version

During these three sessions, you will learn how to create a new company, set up preferences, explore and customize the dashboard, record transactions, customize lists, create recurring transactions, prepare estimates and reports, and create/edit lists.
This course is for people who either have access to QuickBooks Desktop. There is also an option to rent it for $30 a month. For more information contact Ellsworth Adult & Community Education at 207.664.7110.

Learn how to capture what you see in the great outdoors by finding the best composition . Experiment with light, camera settings, shutter speed and aperture for the best exposure. We’ll also explore different lenses, depth of field and filters. Tripods can be helpful for wildlife photography, but not required for the course. This is a hybrid course online sessions using ZOOM and one in-person class at Schoodic Point.
This is a live online class. One Class Saturday March 9th 10:00am-1:00om will be at Schoodic Point.
Steve McGrath is a professional freelance photographer and photography teacher who has been creating images for 20 years. Steve first began by shooting sports photography for local high schools, then weddings, and stock agencies. His love of the outdoors led him to focusing more on his true passion. Steve was an active member of the Gateway Camera Club for many years, and has won many ribbons and awards at fairs and competitions through the club and on his own. Many of his images have been published in school text books.
Microsoft Excel Basics

During this workshop, you will learn how to navigate a simple Excel worksheet, enter data in a worksheet, use basic math functions, do basic formatting, how to replicate data, use built-in functions and work with columns and rows. This is a live online class using ZOOM.

Google Forms: Gather Information

Forms is the Google Suite App that allows you to create surveys, proposals and so much more. The surveys are easy to create and can automatically be formatted to download to a google sheet which makes reviewing the results quick and easy. This is an in-peson class. Microsoft Excel for Beginners

A working knowledge of Microsoft Word is easy to learn and will save you time! This beginner’s course explains the basic features of Microsoft Word. Class exercises will illustrate the skills required to create letters and other documents, including resumes. You will learn how to use spell check and other tools, format and align text, create tables within your documents, and organize your output for easy retrieval. This is an in-person class. Diana Merenda, MBA, taught the Management Capstone course at CUNY’s Baruch College for 7 years, as well as Microsoft Suite classes within NY’s SCOPE Adult Ed. She’s proficient in Microsoft 365 and worked within financial services for 30 years before moving to Surry’s Patten Bay.

Google Sheets are spreadsheet files. Spreadsheets were traditionally ledgers for financial recordkeeping, but now are used for organizing, tracking and retrieving all kinds of information. Google Sheets is a user friendly, online tool similar to Microsoft Excel. It’s free, accessible from all devices and is easy to share. Vanessa loves working with adult learners. She is really easy to be around and makes people extremely comfortable; she even makes learning math and computers fun! She is committed to helping adults discover their strengths, build their confidence, and realize they can accomplish their goals. In her free time, she loves to travel and explore the outdoors.
