If you are ready to make a change in your life - finding the right job or career - this offering will provide you with the resources, skills, knowledge and support to seek your fortune!
You’ll have the opportunity to take career assessments, explore job opportunities, identify the training or education required (and apply for those programs), prepare to apply for jobs by writing resumes and participating in informational and mock interviews, complete paper and online job applications, and strengthen communication and other foundation skills to reach your goals. You will work with a veteran instructor to design your own individualized program.

Technology for the Workforce

All jobs these days require a pretty high level of technology skills and knowledge. Our instructors can assist you in reaching your potential with digital literacy so you can confidently apply, interview and demonstrate your skills through experience and certifications including North Star, IC3 and other certificate programs. You start with a free and confidential interview and assessment and then work at your own pace to improve your skills and confidence. The first step is meeting with a career advisor to make a plan designed especially for you!

Wilderness First Aid - SOLO (INTEREST LIST ONLY)

Are you thinking about going on an outdoor trip this summer with family or friends? Are you planning on being a trip leader for a camp or guide service? Are you interested in knowing how to take care of someone if they were hurt in the backcountry? This is a perfect course for someone who would like to get a basic level of first aid training. The Wilderness First Aid is a 16-hour hands-on course. It will provide a comprehensive look at the standards and skills of dealing with: • response and assessment • musculoskeletal Injuries • environmental emergencies • survival skills • soft tissue injuries • medical emergencies. This course includes 16-hours in class sessions, out of class reading, and a final exam. It can include a 2-hour CPR course. Course includes SOLO Wilderness First Aid book, Wilderness First Aid Map, 2-year WFA Certification
Wilderness First Responder - SOLO(INTEREST LIST ONLY)
available
This 72-80 hour Wilderness First Responder Course provides an in depth look at the skills and standards of the following • response and assessment • musculoskeletal injuries • environmental emergencies • survival skills • soft tissue injuries • medical emergencies. This is an intensive first aid course designed for participants that are working in a position of leadership in an outdoor setting such as Maine guides, backcountry leaders, ski patrollers or raft guides. If you are a current EMT you may receive continuing education credits. Once you receive your WFR certification you may take the steps to become certified as Wilderness EMT. The course includes SOLO Wildcare Working in Less Than Desirable Conditions and Remote Environment textbook, 3-year WFR Certification, 2-year CPR certification. Note: to receive certification, participants must pass written and practical exams.
Women's Basic Chainsaw Safety & Skills (Morning Session) INTEREST LIST ONLY

This is an interest list only. The cost of the class is $49. Women’s Basic Chainsaw Safety & Skills Ellsworth Adult & Community Education is collaborating with Axe Women Loggers of Maine to offer a workshop for women who want to learn how to use a chainsaw safely, for working in the woods or for timbersports competition. Learn from World Timbersports Champion Alissa Wetherbee.
Safety-toed boots or shoes are required, and please bring leather work gloves as well. Chainsaws and safety equipment are provided for the workshop, which will be a combination of presentation, demonstration and practice using the saw. The presentation/demonstration and some practical will be indoors, and small teams will rotate outdoors for chainsaw practice, so dress appropriately. Improve your flexibility, strength, balance and posture as you move in and out of a variety of yoga poses. All levels are welcome. Leave class feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. This is an in-person class, designed as a drop-in class and, for the $90 registration fee, you may attended a total of 8 classes January through April. The class meets on Wednesday and Friday mornings, 10:00a-11:00a. We hope you will like the convenience of this arrangement. This is a new format for us and for Molly, so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at 664-7110!
