English for Life and Work-Tue/Thu

with Emily Nash

Free

This is a self-paced course which can be taken for diploma credit, designed to help adults improve their writing and reading while preparing for college entrance exams, college classes, and the world of work. We will cover the basics of grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure, paragraph development, and will eventually write effective essays with clear ideas, smooth transitions, and logical support. We will practice pre-writing, planning, research, and organizing our writing. Learning to proofread for punctuation, usage, content and support will be emphasized. An aspect of the practice will be reading diverse materials and analyzing them for main ideas, supporting evidence, and the proper use of the mechanics of English, all while increasing digital literacy. Ongoing enrollment.
