East Coast Swing is a social rhythm partner dance done in 6 and 8 beat patterns in closed position with a 4/4 rhythm, set on a circular rotation left or right. It has also been referred to as "jitterbug”, Lindy and Triple Swing or at its most basic "swing dance" and takes its roots from Lindy Hop. This dance is done to big band type music, jazz, rock n' roll, disco, and pop, and has a fast and fun tempo that is very versatile to dance to. East Coast Swing incorporates lots of turns, spins and fun hair loops. It can be danced to slow or fast music with triple steps and rock steps. Songs like: "Great Balls of Fire" or "At the Hop" are popular for this energetic dance style. Come alone or with a partner - singles are welcome! Makeup class, if needed, 11/24/19.
