College Prep English helps you improve your reading, writing, editing, proofreading, and revising skills, to prepare for college entrance exams and the general expectations of college English.
You will learn the basics of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph development, and will eventually write effective essays with clear ideas, smooth transitions, and logical support. You will practice planning, research, prewriting, and organizing your writing. Additionally, you’ll learn to write different types of essays, to properly format them, and to cite sources. Learning to proofread for punctuation, usage, content, and support will be emphasized. This course is an in-person class with weekly assignments that will utilize 21st century learning environments, so comfort with digital and online navigation is a requirement. This class meets on Mondays with Wednesday office and lab hours, and is an in-person class with ongoing enrollment.
No class 11/22/23. Makeup class, if needed, 12/20/23.
