This course provides students with an introduction to the major theories and concepts in chemistry. This science will be explored through lectures, lab activities, projects and research. Math skills needed to perform necessary calculations will also be reviewed. By the end of this course, students will have gained a true understanding of the composition of matter, how matter is categorized, how matter interacts, the Atomic Theory throughout history, the signs and causes of chemical reactions, and the properties and structure of matter.
Furthermore, this course will allow students to improve upon their problem-solving skills and gain a true and deeper understanding of why they are seeing what they are seeing and just how much chemistry is used in everyday life.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will earn one high school diploma credit (a prerequisite for acceptance to several local college programs). This is a live online course.
No class 02/23/23 or 04/20/23. Makeup class, if needed, 06/08/23.
