Chemistry with Lab

Calendar Jan 29, 2019 at 5 pm, runs for 15 weeks

This course provides students with an introduction to the major theories and concepts in Chemistry. This science will be explored through lectures, lab activities, projects, and research. Math skills needed to perform necessary calculations will also be reviewed. By the end of this course, students will have gained a true understanding of the composition of matter, how matter is categorized, how matter interacts, the Atomic Theory throughout history, the signs and causes of chemical reactions, and the properties and structure of matter. Furthermore, this course will allow students to improve upon their problem-solving skills and gain a true and deeper understanding of why they are seeing what they are seeing and just how much chemistry is used in everyday life. Upon successful completion of this course, students will earn one high school diploma credit (a prerequisite for acceptance to several local college programs). No class 02/19/19 or 04/16/19. Makeup class (if needed) 05/28/19.

Success in college depends on more than having the necessary math and English skills. Join veteran college transitions staff to gain the confidence and motivation to succeed. Learn planning, organizing and study skills, how to juggle school, work and home life, and navigate the finances of starting on the path to a college education. Concrete tips on note taking, test taking, and study materials will be shared. Upon successful completion of this course, students will earn one high school diploma/college credit. No class 11/21/18 or 12/26/18.

This course is perfect for adults who need to prepare for success on a college entrance or licensure examination, including the Accuplacer, HESI, and PRAXIS, pass the HiSET math test, and/or earn a high school credential in the subject. The course is designed to prepare you to succeed in college-level mathematics in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. You will master concepts and computations in whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios and proportions, negative and positive numbers, powers and roots, and more! Emphasis will also be on developing self-study skills and habits to be successful in mathematics and other subjects, becoming familiar with free online resources, and applying mathematics in real life situations. Upon successful completion of this course, students will earn one high school diploma credit. No class 11/22/18 or 12/27/18. Makeup class (if needed) 01/24/19.
