Mindfulness: Tools for Well-Being

Drawing from the areas of Stress Reduction, Mindfulness, Brain Science, and Resiliency, this 4-week series will explore specific tools and practices we can use to enhance our level of well-being and flourish in life. Topics to be included are reducing stress in a busy world, increasing awareness, presence and intention in our lives, as well as rebounding from adversity and strengthening relationships. Makeup class (if needed) 11/14/18.

Jen Harry is a mindfulness and meditation teacher committed to helping people manage stress and live mindfully and meaningfully. She has a BA in Psychology and has worked in the mental health field for over 15 years. She is certified in methods Japanese Psychology, Applied Positive Psychology, and has attended trainings for facilitating Mind-Body Skills Groups. Jen is the founder/owner of Infusion Mindfulness.

 

Mindfulness: Mindful Eating Series

Explore the intersection of mindfulness, eating behaviors and our relationship to food. Learn about the physical, emotional, and environmental factors that can influence food decisions and eating patterns by exploring the seven types of hunger with the goal of increasing our awareness and learning how we can use mindfulness to help us establish a new, more balanced relationship with food. In addition, learn the science behind willpower and learn strategies for increasing self-regulation and resisting temptation. Finally, we will focus on how food impacts our body and how to make tiny, yet powerful, tweaks to our diet that can increase our overall well-being. No class 02/20/19. Plant-based Cooking for Health

Five years ago, Marc Blanchette began his transition to a plant-based lifestyle during his 184 lb. weight loss. He has continued to maintain his health and weight with exercise and a diet of grains, fruits, beans, legumes and vegetables. In this class, he will share his story and experience through this journey. Marc will teach the steps that he took to find better health through the power of a plant-based lifestyle. The class is designed to show how simple and affordable this way of cooking and eating can be, dispel the myths, break stereotypes and equip participants with the tools and resources needed to be successful. There will be cooking demos, food to sample, easily prepared recipes to share, local shopping tips and group support. Makeup class (if needed) 11/01/18.

Through the study of plant-based nutrition, education, seminars and years of cooking in his own kitchen, Marc has become an accomplished cook and is willing to share his knowledge of whole food, plant-based cooking. Now retired, he is also Ellsworth City Council Chairman.
