Heartsaver Adult and Pediatric First Aid CPR AED (Session 2)

A classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrive. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. Makeup class (if needed) 12/14/18.

As fall approaches, we’ll learn the basics for making great soups, plus make these hearty, soul satisfying recipes and easy breads to go with them:
*Chicken pot pie stew with pie crust dippers
*Broccoli cheddar soup with black pepper biscuits
*Stuffed pepper soup with savory apple cheddar scones
*Instant pot curried lentil and butternut soup with garlic naan

JoAnne is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy. Since moving to Maine, she has worked as a professional pastry chef and owned a dessert catering company, as well as teaching cooking classes. Her classes are designed to be hands-on but are also perfect for those who may wish to just observe. The class always makes every item listed and everyone gets to sample. JoAnne advises students not to eat dinner before coming to class because there is so much food! Each student will receive a full print-out recipe packet to take home!

Introduction to Computers

This course is intended for those that want a gentle yet thorough introduction on how to use their computers to meet their professional and/or personal needs. Students will learn about the inner workings of their computer. They will learn how to choose a computer that is best for meeting their needs; how to customize the setup, install virus protection, use a variety of free software, create files; and, how to organize their system so that information saved can be easily be retrieved. Students will learn to “safely” surf the net. Lastly, they will learn the various ways they can share pictures and files on a professional or personal level. Students will be able to confidently personalize their computer settings, navigate through their files, and successfully communicate with others. Absolutely no previous computer experience or knowledge is required. Makeup class (if needed) 11/13/18.
Just A Taste of Hatha Yoga (Session 1)

Have you wanted to try yoga, but didn’t want to commit to a full session? Want to make sure the teacher is right for you before committing? Come in for one class to get just a taste of Hatha yoga and Hannah’s teaching style. This Hatha Yoga class will focus on building strength, awareness and flexibility through postures and proper body alignment. Props are used to allow everyone to experience the benefits of a yoga asana (posture) practice. Class is appropriate for all levels of students. Hannah Horecka was trained in Hatha Vinyasa Yoga at ShivaShakti School of Yoga in Camden, Maine. She has been practicing yoga for over 13 years and owns Quiet Strength Yoga Studio in Ellsworth. Her teachings are focused on proper alignment and body mechanics to heal and strengthen every body.
