Chalk Couture - Chalking with Kim

In this workshop, you will work on four projects, starting with a simple “hello” and graduating to a special Thanksgiving gift. You’ll learn about applying silk screen transfers, uses of pastes and ink, how to layer, and tackle the ombre effect. The materials you purchase for this class can be used again and again. Kim is an experienced DIY person and will share lots of ways to use this new found craft for both home decorating and gifts. Makeup class (if needed) 11/13/18. Kim Leavitt is an experienced DIYer. When she discovered Chalk Couture, she decided it was so inspiring that she had to share it with others!

Create Your Own Greeting Cards and Gifts

In days gone by, Dutch women would create rosettes from recycled tea bag packets. Learn the technique of folding paper to create unique and beautiful designs for greeting cards, gift cards or scrapbooks. They are so beautiful, you can frame them and give them as gifts! In this hands-on class, you will learn the techniques of Teabag and Iris Folding and explore creating your own designs. No experience is required. You will be provided with three kit-based projects ($15.00 payable to the instructor). Students should bring a pair of scissors, ruler, scotch tape and pencil to class. Makeup class (if needed) 10/25/18. Lynn O'Kane is a life-long crafter who enjoys making handmade items and sharing her skills and ideas through teaching.


Crochet! Get Hooked!

If you've tried to learn how to crochet before and haven't been able to catch on, this workshop is for you.  The class limit is four students, as reflected in the cost of the course, and you will receive lots of individual attention. You will learn the basic stitches and how to read a pattern in this hands-on class. No experience is required. Stitches learned will be used to make a project each week or so. As you become more skilled, you may select your own projects. Please bring a size H or bigger crochet hook and two coordinating skeins of worsted weight yarn to the first class. Makeup class (if needed) 11/13/18. Lynn O'Kane is a life-long crafter who enjoys making handmade items and sharing her skills and ideas through teaching.


Firearms Hunter Safety

Calendar Oct 9, 2018 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

This course is taught by a trained, certified instructor according to statewide standards. Course covers the following topics: proper firearms handling (rifle and shotgun), personal safety, survival/first aid, hunter responsibility, map and compass, and landowner relations. This is a home study course; a workbook will be given out at the Tuesday night class to be completed before the Saturday class. You must attend both classes to receive your certificate.  Please bring a bag lunch for the Saturday class.

Ernie West has been teaching CPR and First Aid courses for 20 years. He is retired from the military and his passion is teaching safety classes. In addition to CPR/First Aid courses, he teaches outdoor recreation courses for the State of Maine in Hancock and Washington counties.

Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife courses are available to students 10 years of age and older; school age students must be accompanied by an adult.

Freeing Your Voice (Part 1)

Revised Schedule  Everyone possesses a voice capable of expressing the many subtleties of emotion, mood or thought he or she might experience. However, tensions, defenses and negative experiences can inhibit the voice from utilizing its full depth and range. Through detailed exercises combining imagery, imagination and technical knowledge with physical awareness and action, this course aims to free your voice to spontaneously connect with your mind and heart. Actors, singers, public speakers and anyone who wishes to use his/her voice more effectively will benefit from this course. Fee includes Freeing the Natural Voice by Kristin Linklater. Makeup class (if needed) 11/01/18.

Daniel Conte has been involved in music since learning to play the tuba in 4th grade. He is a singer, composer, pianist, and conductor. He believes most people have a lot more ability than they think and enjoys helping them realize it.

Heartsaver Adult and Pediatric First Aid CPR AED (Session 1)

A classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrive. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. Makeup class (if needed) 11/09/18.
