Many people thinking about a change in their lives don’t know where to start.  Veteran career advisor Annie Sargent will share available resources, identify opportunities and assist you in taking concrete steps toward achieving your goals.  Services include academic, employment and technology assessments; producing a resume; preparing for a job interview, and much more.  These individualized sessions will provide you with the support you need to navigate your new life ahead in a sensitive, confidential and informal environment.

If you’ve been thinking about going to college but don’t know where to start, this workshop is for you.  You’ll start with assessing your skills and career interests; learn about resources for test taking and study skills; work on improving your math, reading and writing skills; and learn about financial aid and the college application process.  Some students will be ready to enroll in college; most will be confident about their next steps and have a timeline for achieving their dreams to attend college and find a rewarding career.

Human Biology with Lab

This course presents the major biological principles including biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, anatomy and physiology, and more. Students will experience the process of science by conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and forming and reporting conclusions in a scientifically written format. Upon successful completion, students will earn one high school diploma credit (a prerequisite for acceptance to several local college programs). No class 04/176/18; makeup class (if needed) 05/24/18.

Calendar Feb 28, 2018 at 5 pm, runs for 14 weeks

This course is perfect for adults who need to (1) prepare for and pass college entrance or licensure examinations, including the Accuplacer, HESI, and PRAXIS, and/or (2) earn a high school credit in the subject. The classroom atmosphere is fun and relaxed and includes direct instruction, hands-on activities, and online learning. Registrants should, for the most part, be confident in operations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percents before taking this course. Please register for Math for College & Work beforehand if you need to brush-up on those skills. High School diploma credit is awarded for this course. No class 04/18/18; makeup class (if needed) 06/07/18.

This course is designed to give adult learners the opportunity to build a tool kit for learning success.  Students will learn skills to become confident learners, manage time and stress, improve memory and establish successful test preparation strategies. If you’re planning on continuing your education, you’ll research options and complete financial aid forms.  If you’re seeking work, you’ll do a job search, write a resume, fill out job applications, and prepare for interviews.  Whether you are continuing your education or want to get organized to find and keep rewarding work, this workshop might be for you.  Ongoing enrollment.
