Acadia National Park Jobs Workshop (Evening)

Each year Acadia National Park offers many exciting work opportunities. This workshop will familiarize individuals with the process of applying for positions at Acadia National Park and other Federal Government organizations and agencies. They will learn how to navigate the USAJOBS website to search for jobs, create a profile, build a resume, and apply for positions. They will also learn the language used to describe seasonal, temporary, and permanent positions and eligibility to compete. Highlighted jobs at Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island and the Schoodic Peninsula offer many exciting employment opportunities each year through the summer season. Seasonal employees in the Maintenance Division support the park in diverse ways. They maintain the paved roads and carriage roads, maintain and rehabilitate 156 miles of trails, clean, maintain and repair all buildings and facilities, run an automotive repair shop, and respond to equipment and utility service calls throughout the park. The Maintenance Division is always looking for new people to bring their skills and enthusiasm to the program. Join us for one of these informational meetings about when and how to apply for these exciting opportunities.

Ellsworth Adult Education has partnered with NorthStar Basic Computer to teach digital literacy skills and document mastery by awarding certificates while also preparing the next steps for your career path. Ongoing Enrollment.

Ellsworth Adult Education offers a Certified Nursing Assistant course meeting the State requirement of 180 hours (110 hours of classroom/lab and 70 hours of clinical experience) and, if needed, six hours of CPR instruction. Clinicals are held at area healthcare facilities. Upon successful completion of this course, passing the State CNA exam and successful acceptance to the State Registry, you will be a state-certified CNA. Attendance at a CNA Information Session is recommended as part of the application process.

New to the computer? A bit scared to get started? If the answer is yes, this is the class for you. No prior skill required. Learn key computer vocabulary, as well as how to find your way around the computer, search the internet efficiently and effectively, send and receive emails, and add attachments. Registration is limited to seven, so the student/teacher ratio is low. You will leave this class confident in your ability to learn new computer skills. Alison is a certified math instructor and brings 15 years of retail management experience to her teaching. Makeup class (if needed) 04/13/18.

Offering consistent, friendly customer service is a key to repeat business and customer loyalty. A big step toward improving customer service is getting your employees to look at their jobs through the eyes of their customers. Ellsworth Adult Education and the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce is offering an opportunity for businesses and individuals to enhance their customer service. Trainers will be area employers with focus on quality customer service. Each session will have handouts that can be added to the student’s personal growth file or shared with others in their workplace. Heartsaver™ Adult First Aid CPR AED

A classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrive. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies.  This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. Ernie has been teaching CPR/First Aid courses for more than 20 years as well as outdoor recreation safety courses for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
